Upon application to the supervisor, an amount of time up to a maximum of one- half (½) day leave of absence, without deduction of pay, to attend a funeral or memorial service of a personal friend or family member not covered in the list above may be granted. In the event that the employee is required to travel more than three hundred (300) kilometres from the campus, the paid bereavement leave will normally not exceed seven (7) working days, except where the University determines that special circumstances warrant an extension. ![]() A part -time employee will receive pay only for those hours normally worked while the employee is on bereavement leave.įor purposes of this guideline, immediate family is defined as an employee’s parent, step-parent, spouse, child, step-child, brother, sister, father or mother in-law, grandparent, grandchild, son or daughter in-law and any other relative permanently residing in the employee’s household or with whom the employee permanently resides.
